the truck is OFFICIALLY paid off!  hooray!  the final papers will be here by next wednesday and then by the weekend the lucky buyer, johnny sonoma, will pick it up!

we sent in our last truck payment and the fellow who's buying the truck sent money directly to the bank so by the end of the week it should be all said and done.  well, mostly.  we'll still be waiting to get our refund from cancelling the warranty and gap loss whatever, but i think i can be patient for that.  we're excited about the truck just being at a good home andgetting to drive around instead of sit in our driveway blocking in a crappy el camino.

yesterday was something ridiculous like eighty degrees out.  i celebrated by spending the day indoors at work.  george spent the day installing new door panels in the rabbit which he found at a vw parts place a half hour north of here for wicked cheap.  we're pretty excited.  the guy who owned it before us had cut holes in the existing panels to accomodate speakers and then the stereo stopped working so he took the speakers out but the holes remained.  george also got a few new motor mounts hoping that by replacing them the car would stop shaking so much.  he and andy got one installed but it didn't seem to help, he was disappointed.

we let the cats out last night to wander around and they had some fun.. they don't really leave the driveway which is pretty okay with us.  while they were out they met our neighbor cat rusty again and were introduced to whiskey the mean cat who hangs around.  there was also a gray cat but he/she chose to remain far from the action.  whiskey is a bully; he kind of charged at boy three or so times.  rusty just backed away from boy - he didn't want a fight, he just wanted to sit in his driveway.  boy managed to weasel his way into johann and michelle's house a few times and i managed to shoo him out - though michelle would just as soon kept him (johann won't let her get a cat.)

then we biked downtown for some gelato and to walk around.  everything was going fine until i walked into a fire hydrant.  that's right.  california for the most part believes that bigger is better and this includes their take on fire safety.  in my experience, fire hydrants usually have two spouts for the water but not here, they have three and one (apparently the one the sticks out into the sidewalk) is bigger and meaner and attacks people.  i have one good size lump and one mean bruise on my knee.

we came home and played scrabble.  then i finished reading my book, a complicated kindness and george did more rabbit research.

today i'm making croutons.  george went to work.

tonight we bought a copy of scrabble and had chips and salsa for dinner while playing.  after we'll have hot chocolate and watch wordplay. at the bakery i've taken to working on the "commuter" crossword everyday.  i'm pretty okay at it. i mean, it's no boston globe crossword, but it's something.

tomorrow we're getting the internet connected in our house, we're very excited.  it'll make things much easier and we'll have that vast wealth of knowledge at our fingertips once again.

scrabble update: i have five vowels, george has five consonants.  (also, we're not keeping score.)

we decided to bit the bullet and to get the internet.  it seems a little pricey but it would make our lives a little easier and our house wouldn't be quite so boring and i wouldn't have to go to george's office to check my email all the time.

girl is still illin', boy is cool.  the little girl, maggie, who lives next door wants to steal boy from us.  we started letting them outside a little bit with supervision - to keep them from running into the street and from maggie stealing them - and they seem to like it.  girl is skittish about it but darts around anyway.  she much much quicker than one would think.  rusty (maggie's cat) is not a big fan of girl but seems okay with boy.  he's the cat we call jeff because he looks bland.

i made a dentist appointment and don't look forward to paying a crapload of money for dental work but do look forward to getting some more cavities filled so my teeth can feel whole again. and, i guess, literally be whole again.

i repotted some plants.

george went to santa barbara and came back.

i'm knitting myself a hat that matches geo's.

today i'm going to do some sewing and mending. and hopefully make bread pudding.

my friend curtis has been here visiting since saturday night. we did things like: went to alcatraz, the exploratorium, the muir woods, bowled, watched star trek and some movies, and had dinner with george's boss. we tried to go to the zoo but it rained the whole time he was here and we just didn't have the heart to look at animals in the rain.  we did have a lot of fun bowling.  george doesn't know it yet but i'm going to try and convince him to go bowling tonight or tomorrow night.

friday afternoon george, andy, and scott are leaving for santa barbara for the weekend to do some work on scott's brother-in-law's house.  hopefully it'll be an enjoyable trip and if nothing else it'll give george a break from the monotony of san anselmo.  i don't know if he feels like it's monotonous but i feel like it is.
